Enchanted Maternity Portraits in Harry Potter Themed Baby Nursery | Littleton Photographer3/19/2017 This maternity portrait session with Marci was absolutely magical from beginning to end (pun completely intended). I have seen so many awesome nurseries all over Colorado, but this one completely wowed me. Every single detail of the room was handmade and created in an amazing Harry Potter theme by Marci and Nick and it was insanely creative!
Before you even walked into the room you are greeted with a brick wall overlay with a “Platform 9 3/4” sign on it. Imagine being able to enter the wizarding world everyday at nap time! Above the crib, little Amelia’s name is written in the famous Harry Potter font, lightning on the “M” and all. Handmade flying keys made up the mobile. Every detail of the room was made in a Harry Potter lover’s dream, and most of it was all done by hand. These parents are so imaginative! The light in the center of the room was made to look like the floating candles in the Great Hall, Of course it’s difficult to pick, but one of my favorite details were the pictures on the wall. They were all pieces of artwork with the newly illustrated covers of all of the Harry Potter books! Seriously, this room blew me away. Photographing happy new parents is always great, but this family made it even better. They’re already working so hard for their daughter! She’s going to love growing up in this room.. Who knows, maybe she’s the Chosen One!

It was a busy year in 2016! Which is great in so many ways, but it also means I have fallen drastically behind in blogging! I will be featuring so many wonderful portrait sessions over the next few weeks so keep on eye on our "What's New" section!
Today I want to feature one of my favorite fall family sessions from last November. This family was the sweetest and their darling daughter was full of so much energy and big smiles! The warm Colorado weather was perfect for their family portraits. We went to one of my favorite locations in Morrison, Colorado and walked the trails, played in the leaves and had a fantastic time...we even paused for a few photos along the way! This adorable couple was a pleasure to work with! From the first time they reached out to me I knew we would have a great time getting to know each other. They are having their first child and really wanted some beautiful outdoor maternity photos. We discussed a few locations around Littleton and landed on this gorgeous open space. I love the colors they chose to wear because they really popped against the winter background.
Has it been longer than a year since your last professional headshot? Have you changed jobs? Changed your hair style? It's the perfect time of to update your photo!

We are looking for all kinds of reps! Are you fun, energetic, outgoing, responsible, active in school, active on social media and loves photos? Then this is for you! As a Senior Rep you will also be able to participate in our themed shoots throughout the year! I'm not the kind of gal that gets super excited about what I call the "fluffy" details of a wedding. You know, the perfect color scheme or the adorable favors or even the trendy donut bar. These are all well and good, but I'm after the real stuff—the look on the groom's face when he sees his bride for the first time. The emotional father daughter dance. The toast that everyone cries at. Those are the moments that make me love photographing weddings. And this wedding was full of the real stuff.
Matt and Karlye are my kind of people. They are high school sweethearts who love being outside and listening to live music. Their whole energy was full of life. And their wedding was exactly representative of who they are as a couple too: laid back and so, so in love. They got married at the Meadow Creek Lodge in Pine, Colorado, the perfect mountain setting for a couple that obviously feels most comfortable outdoors. Matt wore a perma-grin as Karlye came down the aisle, as did her father. Karlye's brother officiate the wedding which added such a special touch. They made their way through teary vows, and when it started to rain, they barely noticed. Matt walked his barefoot bride down the aisle after what can only be described as a celebratory kiss. Their reception was one of the most emotional I've been to. They had extremely heartfelt speeches and there wasn't a dry eye in the house, including me! The people around them were so unbelievably supportive and genuinely happy to see them married. See what I mean? The real stuff! Matt and Karlye, thank you so much for trusting me to capture this incredibly special day. When you guys turned toward your friends and family to be announced as a couple, I thought to myself, "This might be the happiest couple I've ever photographed." Your faces made it look like you just made the best decision of your entire lives. And I think you probably did. This year has been so wonderful! I have photographed a lot of weddings with amazing couples and some incredible destinations! From Colorado to Cancun, it has been an awesome year!
These are a few of my favorite moments from this 2016. This year has been amazing! I have had so many wonderful returning clients and have met a lot of great new people that I can't wait to see again. I love seeing families grow each year. We always find fun locations where the kids can run and that's what I love about outdoor portraits in Colorado...plenty of gorgeous scenery with room to play!
Many clients bring their pets and I encourage it! They are just as much apart of the family as anyone. The first photo was my first family portrait session of 2016 and they were a lot of fun! We went to a couple locations in Littleton and at one point they started a snowball fight! It was a great way to start the year. From the very start, I knew that family would be a huge part of Zach and Alex's big day. They talked about them and how they would incorporate family members from the beginning, especially their kids. Even the proposal was done with their families, on Thanksgiving at Zach's mom's house. And to me, that's exactly what matters on a wedding day. Not the dress, not the colors, not which flowers she chose, but the people they would be saying their vows in front of. Their enthusiasm about the people in their lives made me so excited to work with them.
On the day of their wedding, I saw even more how important this piece was to them. They spent most of the day hugging their families and chatting with them—I could feel the love all around! One of the most hilarious moments during the cake cutting was Zach surprised Alex with quite the smash, getting cake everywhere. But a few seconds later, Alex's aunt had her back and retaliated by serving Zach some cake in the face. I'm pretty sure they were both still digging cake out of their noses the next morning. Overall, the wedding reflected exactly what Zach and Alex represent: connectedness. They prioritized one another above themselves as individuals and the day was a true celebration of their love and family. I felt honored to be a part of it and to watch the beginning of the marriage. Nicole and Wesley created a quaint, vintage wedding that fit them perfectly. They chose to get married at Evans Chapel which provided them the intimate ceremony they wanted along with the old-school look they were after. They were so connected and sweet, obviously so ready to start their life together. And the magic followed us when we stepped outside of the chapel and found snow falling! They absolutely loved it, and of course I thought it was awesome as well. Those photos in the snow are some of the best of the entire day—they showed their pure joy and excitement.
My favorite detail of the day was her vintage dress that she changed into right before we got to the reception. It was just another detail that represented them and made their day unique. They were announced as a couple for the first time right before a cocktail hour where they got to mingle with their guests. The reception was simple: good food, sincere toasts, and a fun cake cutting. Nicole decorated the reception with old photos of their families as well as filigree cake stands and picture frames. The small touches gave the day an incredibly sweet tone, which matches Nicole and Wesley. I wish them all the happiness in the world after Did you know there are less than 100 days until Christmas?! That's crazy!! Where did summer go? I love fall and all of the fun family holiday's but I will definitely miss the warm summer weather. Another thing I love about fall is reconnecting with the families that I photograph every year and getting to meet some new ones too!
It's that time of year again for Silver Sparrow Photography's annual fall family mini sessions! This is always such a fun event and always sells out quickly. These events are perfect for sending out a photo Holiday Card and updating your family portraits! Tradition, family, and nature were the every present themes for Chris and Aly’s wedding at Lionscrest Manor in breathtakingly beautiful Lyons, Colorado. One of the many amazing locations for a wedding here in Colorado!
The lovely bride, Aly, walked down the aisle to her waiting groom to be, Chris, barefoot so that she could feel the earth under her feet. During the traditional ceremony the couple participated in the Ketubah signing, candle lighting, and the breaking of the glass. Tradition carried on into the reception as the newlyweds danced the afternoon away, surrounded by family and friends. It truly was an honor to get to photograph so many special moments at the wedding of this fantastic couple! Chris & Aly, who love being out in nature together, became engaged on their 5 year anniversary trip to Steamboat Springs where Chris proposed to Aly next to Fish Creek Falls. They enjoy hiking, watching movies, cooking and look forward to having babies, living on a farm, and raising animals once they move to the Pacific Northwest (which they did…just a couple days after the wedding!) Here’s to a long lifetime of happiness together! For a couple of movie loving, self-proclaimed dorks with a deep love for all things Disney – a wedding in Nashville at the enchanting Belle Meade Plantation was quite literally a storybook wedding, down to the Beauty & the Beast cake toppers! This fun-loving Colorado wedding couple chose Nashville for their big day as it was a central location for their tight knit, yet spread out, soon to be joined families. With mom of the bride, Judy, handling the décor, sister-in-law Dawn stepping in as wedding planner, and family sprinkled throughout the wedding party – it truly was a family affair!
The bride, clad in a Snow White inspired gown she got back home in Colorado at Wedding Treasures, Justin, and the rest of their clan danced the night away at Belle Meade Plantation. The fact that this lovely location was reminiscent of Gone with the Wind was no accident! Every single little detail of this romantic wedding was perfectly tailored to the bride and groom. Ruth and Justin look forward to travelling together as a couple and enjoying their time with each other before settling down to married life and starting a family. A Disney vacation is in their future I’m sure! Silver Sparrow Photography wishes them a much deserved happily ever after! Meet…Ashlyn! Not your typical high school senior, not the usual location for a high school senior photo shoot, and not the weather we were hoping for! But we made it work, and it was an absolute pleasure to work with this energetic and smiling young lady.
A new transplant from the south, Ashlyn moved here to Colorado to finish out the last year of high school. Ashlyn chose the equine hospital in Monument, that her uncle owns and runs, for the location of her photo shoot. Ashlyn is a big lover of the outdoors and nature and it was important to her that she get to include her horses in her pictures. The location for the photo shoot was just beautiful, as was Ms. Ashlyn – who did her own hair and make-up for her pictures – and we got some great shots in. Which was a good thing since Mother Nature decided she had different plans for the day! A huge storm came rolling through, forcing us indoors for the rest of the shoot. Which turned out to be not so bad considering the lovely pictures we were able to get once in the stable. I was lucky enough to meet back up with Ashlyn a couple weeks later to finish out her high school senior photo shoot here in Littleton, and the pictures turned out just beautifully! This girl is truly always happy and such a joy to be around! When she’s not spending time with her horses, Ashlyn loves to read, hike, swim, and tan. She likes all music, except country, and loves to get her nails done. This stylish beauty fits right in here in Colorado! Ashlyn may only be a high school senior, but she is going places and I know whatever she decides to do in life, she will do it with style and grace and a big smile on her face! |
