One can always find an excuse to head up to the mountains of Colorado and spend the day in beautiful Estes Park, but to spend it capturing the wonder and magic of a couple in love is one of the very best reasons to do so! In this case it was Matthew and Leah’s wedding that brought us up into the majestic Rocky Mountains on a beautiful June day. Outdoor weddings are always a crowd pleaser, and this mountain wedding with such a breathtaking backdrop, would be no different.
Romance was alive in the crisp mountain air at the Wild Basin Lodge in Allenspark, Colorado (a small community just outside Estes Park) and there was the definite sense of being transported to another time at this lovely wedding. The groom, Matthew, carried his grandfather’s pocket watch in the vest of his custom suit as he waited for his vintage gown clad bride, Leah, to stand by his side. A Goorin Bros. hat occasionally adorning his head, a look of love ever present on both of their faces, and all the while surrounded by their loved ones. This wedding was what little girls dreams are made of. The gathering was small and intimate – a mix of a private Native American smudging and a public traditional Jewish ceremony. The perfect setting to capture the love these two so beautifully share. And capture it we did! From their approach to the altar where they would declare their love for each other, to their first moments as husband and wife, and all the joy in between and after. As a photographer, the couple is always the most important part of the wedding; and for this couple to have the photography be at the top of their list was a match made in Colorado mountain wedding heaven.

I have known Andrea for a few years now and did Garrett's senior portraits and her professional headshots. When she came to me with her idea for their family portraits I was super excited! She wanted to do a Harley Davidson theme and I was thrilled! This is who they are and I love when people bring that to a shoot.
This session definitely needed something urban. We a wanted that small town feel, so we headed to historic downtown Littleton. This was the perfect backdrop for the families new photos. We had a lot of fun! Some of my favorite things besides photography is travelling and live music, so why not combo the two? A few of my friends and I hopped in a car a couple weeks ago and headed to Clarksdale, Mississippi for the annual Juke Joint Festival. AMAZING music by some legends that I never imaged I'd get to hear live, let alone meet and chat with. Then add in some historical landmarks, great friends and beautiful weather and I really could not have asked for much more. This is definitely one of my favorite life experiences to date!
There is a bunch of photos with my pro camera, some short video clips and snaps with my phone...because sometimes life happens and you just don't have time to pull out the big camera in time. Happy to share that Lacey and Brian's outdoor summer wedding in Colorado Springs was featured on DIY Wedding Magazine! This happy couple was married on their family property and all of the decor was hand made. The family catered everything and cousins helped out by serving. Everyone was happy to help, even the bride was walking around handing out bottled water! Their was dancing, performances and tons of fun!
Haley was an absolute blast to photograph! Chatting with her over the phone before her session, I knew instantly we were gonna have some fun! She told me she has always been a little on the glam side but also liked the idea of a nature setting too, so we decided on doing a little of both. We started at the studio where Cynthia Mazzara with Magnifica Bella did her make-up, then we headed to downtown Littleton, Colorado for some awesome urban settings. After that, we did a quick wardrobe change and headed to the foothills to finish out her session. I loved her wardrobe choices and her style! She really chose great pieces for each location.
A little about Haley... She was on her schools varsity cheerleading team at Ralston Valley High School for 3 years, loves boy bands and anything you can dance to and plans on going to college after high school to pursue a degree in the medical field. I can't wait to see where she goes with her bright future! Wendie Bass with Wendie Bass Weddings, Events and More has been in the industry for 15 years and definitely knows her stuff! I have worked with her and seen her in action and nothing beats having a true professional there for your big day!. She can plan your special day from the venue down to what silverware will go with your vision. Wendie knows just about everyone in the Denver / Colorado market and is able to take her knowledge and wedding professional connections and make your day amazing! After working with her on our last project I asked if she would be a guest writer on my blog and explain what it means to be a true wedding planner. This senior session was carefree, relaxed and so much fun! We did a mix of small town urban and overgrown nature with a foot bridge and waterfall. Jordan really wanted a unique senior session so we ventured into Morrison for that small town feel. They have so many great shops, walking paths and interesting backdrops that I knew we couldn't go wrong. Then we headed to a nearby park to get some of that beautiful golden sunset light. I brought the pink tulle skirt for her to try on and we used her scarf as the belt!
She was not afraid of running around barefoot or getting running around in circles to get that perfect shot! Jordan enjoys photography, sports, and traveling. She's in TSA (technology student association), National Honor Society, French National Honor Society, and Mock Trial, Art Club and she also plays a little golf. I know there is a bright future for her and I cannot wait to see where she goes! Wesley and Nicole are such a sweet couple and we had a great time during their outdoor engagement session! It was a bit windy and we were watching storm clouds roll in over the Rocky Mountains but that didn't stop us from getting some gorgeous images. I am a huge fan of a stormy sky and a little wind, it creates movement and emotion. So anytime I have a couple willing to stand outside in less than ideal conditions we really take advantage! We waited until right before sunset to get the cliff edge photos.
I am in LOVE with Nicole's style! Her dress is from ModCloth and that is one of my favorite places to shop for vintage dresses and accessories! Mark and Danielle wanted their engagement photos to reflect who they are as a couple. They love the outdoors and their dogs so I was sure to pick a location that that where we could include the two adorable pups! We also included their boots, truck and a barn!
These two were absolutely hilarious during their engagement session! I don't think I have laughed this hard during a photoshoot in a very long time! We definitely had many outtakes and funny faces! I am very much looking forward to their September wedding at The Barn at Raccoon Creek. After this amazing engagement session I cannot wait for Chris and Aly's April wedding! These two are so fun and romantic, how could I not be excited?!
A sunset engagement is my all time favorite and we could not have asked for better weather and lighting. We wandered trails and explored to find the best spots to showcase this wonderful couples relationship. Martella is one of my clients who has turned into a close friend over the years. I did her first session a few years ago and we just clicked. Since then we have worked together on multiple projects and it's been a blast!!
The nice thing about having a close friend that is always willing to drop everything for a photoshoot, is we get an amazing session like this one. The reason for this shoot? I had a new lens to test out, the weather was gorgeous and we wanted to have an excuse to meet up for happy hour! What better place for a fun, urban photo shoot and a great happy hour with a friend then downtown Littleton?!
The very popular Headshot Marathon is back! Only a few spots left! Don't miss out on this amazing deal!
Do you need a new headshot or dating profile photo? This is the perfect event for you! If it's been more than a year since your last professional photo then it's time for an update. Perfect for Social Networking Sites, Business Cards, Websites, Dating Profiles, Brochures and more! Brian and Lacey were married on family property in Colorado Springs in a gorgeous outdoor ceremony. Family played a very important role in their big day and everyone pitched in and helped. We started the day with a first look at a friends beautiful property. Most of their families and wedding party joined us and we did the family portraits at that time as well. Then we headed to the grandparents property for the ceremony and celebration!
The decor was made by family and colors were chosen by the bride. Yellow and white daisies were everywhere and added a bright, cheery feel to this already perfect day. The backyard reception had family style tables and big yellow umbrellas. This Baldoria on the Water wedding was a blast from beginning to end! The darling flowers girls were adorable! The decor and details were gorgeous! The dancing at the reception never stopped! What else could I ask for??
Andrew and Ashlee were absolutely amazing! I really enjoyed getting to know them from the consultation, engagement session and wedding. Such a loving couple and I am lucky to have been able to work with them. They met at an Irish pub in Denver called Maloney's. Ashlee was out with her friend Emalie (she was a bridesmaid) and Andrew was out with his friend Josh (he was a groomsman). Andrew came over to say hi to Emalie because they went to High school together and Emalie had dated one of his best friends back in high school. Ashlee and Andrew ended up talking for awhile, he gave her his number and she sent him a text a few days later. Andrew loves that Ashlee asked him out first. Their official first date was a Broncos game and from that moment on they were together. I am excited to share some highlights from their big day with everyone! Enjoy! |
