We are excited to announce that we have a new member on the Silver Sparrow Photography Team! It looks like this guy is going to fit right in with our fun and crazy little family.
Erik Holladay-McCann is an internationally award-winning photojournalist with 32 years of experience, and has spent his life documenting and telling stories through photography. Erik says "photography is thrilling, and electric even. The beauty of photography for me means artfully crafting and preserving the moments you want to remember forever, and helping you create the stories that you want to share. An image may be a millisecond of history, but with the right composition in the right moment, a photograph has the ability to capture a recollection clearly in your mind’s eye, further expanding to other memories and reliving the experience."
Erik will be our new Lead Partner Photographer and will be working on weddings, senior portraits, family portraits, and will be the in-house social media master!
You can start seeing some of his work in our portfolio pages, our instagrams here and here, and on our blog posts right here on the website!
Today is Tommy and Krystal's wedding day! So I wanted to share their gorgeous winter engagement photo session we did in Littleton, Colorado earlier this year. I have loved getting to know these two and am very excited to photograph their wedding later today!
I ask every couple a few questions to get to know them a bit better. When I heard how these two met I was nothing but smiles. It's such a sweet story! From the happy couple - We officially met our freshman year of high school in Mrs. Blaze's English class. After dating for a brief moment, we decided to just be friends. We had at least one class together each semester after that and stayed in the same friend group. After going onto college, we remained friends and grabbed lunch or coffee every time we were both back in town visiting family. Right before our senior year of college, we expressed our feelings for each other and have been dating ever since.
Wesley and Nicole are such a sweet couple and we had a great time during their outdoor engagement session! It was a bit windy and we were watching storm clouds roll in over the Rocky Mountains but that didn't stop us from getting some gorgeous images. I am a huge fan of a stormy sky and a little wind, it creates movement and emotion. So anytime I have a couple willing to stand outside in less than ideal conditions we really take advantage! We waited until right before sunset to get the cliff edge photos.
I am in LOVE with Nicole's style! Her dress is from ModCloth and that is one of my favorite places to shop for vintage dresses and accessories!
Mark and Danielle wanted their engagement photos to reflect who they are as a couple. They love the outdoors and their dogs so I was sure to pick a location that that where we could include the two adorable pups! We also included their boots, truck and a barn!
These two were absolutely hilarious during their engagement session! I don't think I have laughed this hard during a photoshoot in a very long time! We definitely had many outtakes and funny faces! I am very much looking forward to their September wedding at The Barn at Raccoon Creek.
After this amazing engagement session I cannot wait for Chris and Aly's April wedding! These two are so fun and romantic, how could I not be excited?!
A sunset engagement is my all time favorite and we could not have asked for better weather and lighting. We wandered trails and explored to find the best spots to showcase this wonderful couples relationship.
Starting off 2016 I have been working on this years goals and planning. One of my goals is doing more destination weddings....so I decided to make a list of places I want to go and people I want to work with so if any of these fit you or your venue, I'd love to chat!
Wild Basin Lodge - Estes Park Colorado
I have done quite a few weddings and events at this venue and would love to return in 2016! The location is amazing and the staff is always friendly. It's a great place for the Colorado Rustic Wedding.
New Zealand- Anywhere
I have been wanting to travel to New Zealand for as long as I can remember! The landscape images I have seen are amazing whether it's winter or summer. The list of activities and things to do is perfect for the adventurous, outdoor couple!
One of my favorite types of photo shoots is the engagement session. I really get to know my couples before their wedding day and they know what to expect. It helps their big day run smoothly. The other reason I love engagement sessions is it give the couples some fantastic artwork for their home that features who they are together....and they aren't in formal wear! The engagement sessions are always a ton of fun!
Here are some of my favorite moments from my many engagement photo shoots this year. Enjoy!
When Edwina and Dominic wanted to do an engagement and family session combo with an urban setting and colorful graffiti I knew exactly where to take them! We headed to the RiNo art district and they loved all of the beautiful artwork up and down the alleyways and brick buildings.
I absolutely loved working with Ashlee and Andrew for their engagement session! They are such a great couple and so in love...you can see it in the photo's. I am looking forward to their September wedding!
