Elizabeth was such a delight to work with on her senior pictures! We went to two locations because she wanted urban and nature options and I knew the perfect combo in Littleton. We started at Hudson Gardens for her nature location and wandered the beautiful park chatting and laughing along the way. Then headed to Historic Downtown Littleton for the urban location. I love the diversity of both locations! Elizabeth's wardrobe choices were perfect and definitely fit her dressy casual style. One of the things I love about photographing seniors every year is hearing about their lives and plans for the future. Some seniors want to head to college, start their own business or travel for a year. The possibilities are endless!

Chloe's high school senior portrait session was nothing short of perfect! She chose a fantastic location, the weather was beautiful and we basically had the place to ourselves. Her wardrobe choices were awesome and she brought her favorite comic books (Wonder Woman, being one of my faves as well). I really enjoyed getting to know her and hear all about her future plans. She wants to be a journalist or an actor! How cool is that?! Check out the rest of the blog to hear a bit more about Chloe...
I have had so many wonderful senior photo sessions this year! Ana's was definitely one of them! I enjoyed getting to know her and loved that she was referred by her friend Landrey (check out his senior session here). When I sent over a few location choices I was thrilled when she chose Hudson Gardens. It's a great location with a variety of backdrops including colorful flowers and green grass. I knew it would work perfectly! We couldn't have asked for a better afternoon...it was perfect weather, gorgeous sunlight and we practically had the place to ourselves! Check out more of my favorite photos from her senior session and learn more about Ana below....
There is nothing better than having repeat clients! When Kaylie's mother reached out to me for her senior portraits I was thrilled to be able to work with them again! I photographed her older brother Christian two years ago in downtown Littleton and it was so much fun getting to know the family. Kaylie wanted a nature location for her senior pictures and I knew this spot would be perfect! She brought a couple different wardrobe options and after going through everything I knew these two outfits would be the best. The floral dress was perfect for this mountain location and the blue blouse went so well with Kaylie's piercing blue eyes. We had great weather, an awesome location and beautiful light....doesn't get any better than that! This years senior season was kicked off with Landrey at this colorful urban graffiti location in Denver. I can't think of a better way to start the summer! He brought some fantastic wardrobe choices that went well with the backgrounds. We wandered all over the RiNo Arts District finding amazing street art and chatting about what he loves and his future plans. He is an incredibly talented DJ and hosts parties in his home, complete with professional lighting and his entire set-up! His mother showed me some videos of of everything and it looks so awesome!! The street art is always changing in Denver so we got to discover the new works of art together, including some fun Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Aztec art, Crazy Colorful Eyes and walls of beautiful vibrant color. I highly recommend taking a stroll through the area! Check out some of my favorite photos from his session and learn more about Landrey....
This year was a complete whirlwind! I feel like I blinked in April then it was suddenly the holidays! The summer flew by which is no surprise based on the amount of senior portrait sessions we did this year!! Senior portraits have quickly become one of my favorite types of photography and I am definitely looking forward to 2018.
I love getting to know every senior and their family. Seniors have a special energy that can't be replicated. They are excited and nervous and optimistic about the future....and they should be! So much unknown...and unlimited possibilities!! During their session it's all about them. I get to know each student and base their poses, locations and style on who they are right now. I get to hear where they want to go to college and what they want to do with their lives...and let me tell you, the world better watch out for the class of 2018 because their are some serious game changers graduating this year! This high school senior photo session at sunset with mountain views and grassy fields was nothing short of perfect! We went to one of my favorite spots near Morrison, Colorado and wandered all over to get Kaitlyn a nice variety of nature backdrops. The lighting, weather and location couldn't have been better!
We laughed a lot and I got to know her, her awesome mom and grandmother and her little brother during the session. Her little brother brought his camera to shoot some nature, wildlife and fun behind-the-scenes pics. While Kailtlyn did wardrobe changes I chatted with her grandmother about B&W film photography, showed her little brother some different settings on his camera and joked a lot with her mom. The whole family has a love of photography and I enjoyed hearing their stories on what they shoot and why they love it. Kaitlyn was SO MUCH fun to work with and she has amazing style....and I'm not just saying that cause we have the same love of Adidas shoes, leather jackets and winged eyeliner LOL!! Enjoy! To say I am behind on blogging my favorite senior sessions from 2016 is an understatement! Since we are already photographing the class of 2018 I figured I should probably try to catch up from the class of 2017! I had so many wonderful students and will continue to blog about them regardless of how long it's been since our portrait session to place. Ian was so fun to work with and I am happy to finally share some of my favorite photos from his senior portrait session in Denver!
I always ask my seniors a few questions before the photo shoot so I can get a better sense of who they are and help them choose a fitting location and wardrobe. When I found out that Ian's favorite bands were Led Zeppelin, Neil Young, Sublime and his favorite movies were anything Quentin Tarantino, Stephen King, Sons of Anarchy I sent him a few urban suggestions and it did not surprise me that he chose the graffiti covered RiNo District. This is one of my favorite places for senior portraits! It isn’t often that I get to work with a senior as relaxed from start to finish as JJ. The entire shoot was a breeze, with lots of laughs in between poses, and he was remarkably comfortable in front of the camera. His plaid button down and grey hoodie were casual choices that show off who he is on any given day. His smile is contagious, so whoever is lucky enough to receive one of his senior photos is going to light up. I’ve worked with JJ’s sister as well, and these two were made for this!
I’m partial to the graffiti backgrounds that can be found in downtown Littleton, but the purple and blue image with the bird in motion is really unique. The scene looks as though it was done with sidewalk chalk, and adds to JJ’s effortlessly cool style and the colors pop. These graffiti photos are going to be a great way to show off his fun side. I’m lucky to get to work with so many high school seniors, and when they find confidence in their photos I feel even luckier. Senior graduation photo shoots document a time of transition, and are often the first time high school students get to see themselves as an adult. It’s awesome to get to witness those moments as a part of my job. All of my senior photo shoots are fun, but when the senior is as ready as JJ, the shoot is bound to be a great one! A few years back, I was lucky enough to do portraits for Mikayla and her family, and she decided then and there that I was going to do her high school senior photos. When her mother saw that I was looking for Senior Reps, Mikayla was quick to sign up. Considering how easy she was to work with during her family portraits and how happy and energetic she is, I was glad to see her application come through. She was very enthusiastic about her senior rep session, and matched her wardrobe to the urban location in Littleton. She’s very stylish and was eager to put a look together that would compliment the setting. She did a great job!
The location and her style added a sophisticated and chic look, Her white pants, gold accessories, and black shoes finish off a simple yet classy look. We strive for senior portraits to be a reflection of the student, so for Mikayla, this urban setting worked perfectly! We are happy to have her as one of our high school senior reps and can’t wait to show off more of her amazing style from her full session this summer! Senior photo sessions can feel like a lot of pressure to some students, but Justin enjoyed his time in the limelight. We did his rep session in Littleton, and the location was perfect for him. The distressed door are some of my favorites, and Justin’s serious side was complimented perfectly by the setting. His green shirt stood out against the more simple, modern backdrops and worked well with the graffiti art background as well. The fact that his button down is the same shade as the graffiti was an awesome coincidence.
Justin loved the urban scenes, but really started smiling when the Patriot’s jersey came out. The change of wardrobe also came with a change of setting, giving the shoot a great mix of urban and nature. Justin strives to become a sports analyzer, so the jersey represents more than just his love for the game. He couldn’t stop himself from checking his March Madness scores as we were walking to different shoot locations and I enjoyed hearing his take on the Final Four. Justin was a joy to work with, and was quick to sign up to be one of my senior reps! He has big dreams and I’m excited to see what his future holds. Game on Justin! Calling all Class of 2018 students!! What is a Senior Rep? Senior Reps help promote our studio and are an extension of Silver Sparrow Photography. We are looking for all kinds of reps! Are you fun, energetic, outgoing, responsible, active in school, active on social media and loves photos? Then this is for you! As a Senior Rep you will also be able to participate in our themed shoots throughout the year! Meet…Ashlyn! Not your typical high school senior, not the usual location for a high school senior photo shoot, and not the weather we were hoping for! But we made it work, and it was an absolute pleasure to work with this energetic and smiling young lady.
A new transplant from the south, Ashlyn moved here to Colorado to finish out the last year of high school. Ashlyn chose the equine hospital in Monument, that her uncle owns and runs, for the location of her photo shoot. Ashlyn is a big lover of the outdoors and nature and it was important to her that she get to include her horses in her pictures. The location for the photo shoot was just beautiful, as was Ms. Ashlyn – who did her own hair and make-up for her pictures – and we got some great shots in. Which was a good thing since Mother Nature decided she had different plans for the day! A huge storm came rolling through, forcing us indoors for the rest of the shoot. Which turned out to be not so bad considering the lovely pictures we were able to get once in the stable. I was lucky enough to meet back up with Ashlyn a couple weeks later to finish out her high school senior photo shoot here in Littleton, and the pictures turned out just beautifully! This girl is truly always happy and such a joy to be around! When she’s not spending time with her horses, Ashlyn loves to read, hike, swim, and tan. She likes all music, except country, and loves to get her nails done. This stylish beauty fits right in here in Colorado! Ashlyn may only be a high school senior, but she is going places and I know whatever she decides to do in life, she will do it with style and grace and a big smile on her face! Haley was an absolute blast to photograph! Chatting with her over the phone before her session, I knew instantly we were gonna have some fun! She told me she has always been a little on the glam side but also liked the idea of a nature setting too, so we decided on doing a little of both. We started at the studio where Cynthia Mazzara with Magnifica Bella did her make-up, then we headed to downtown Littleton, Colorado for some awesome urban settings. After that, we did a quick wardrobe change and headed to the foothills to finish out her session. I loved her wardrobe choices and her style! She really chose great pieces for each location.
A little about Haley... She was on her schools varsity cheerleading team at Ralston Valley High School for 3 years, loves boy bands and anything you can dance to and plans on going to college after high school to pursue a degree in the medical field. I can't wait to see where she goes with her bright future! This senior session was carefree, relaxed and so much fun! We did a mix of small town urban and overgrown nature with a foot bridge and waterfall. Jordan really wanted a unique senior session so we ventured into Morrison for that small town feel. They have so many great shops, walking paths and interesting backdrops that I knew we couldn't go wrong. Then we headed to a nearby park to get some of that beautiful golden sunset light. I brought the pink tulle skirt for her to try on and we used her scarf as the belt!
She was not afraid of running around barefoot or getting running around in circles to get that perfect shot! Jordan enjoys photography, sports, and traveling. She's in TSA (technology student association), National Honor Society, French National Honor Society, and Mock Trial, Art Club and she also plays a little golf. I know there is a bright future for her and I cannot wait to see where she goes! |
